Marriage Equality – Australian Capital Territory

Today on the Tuesday, 22nd of October, 2013, the elected legislators of the Australian Capital Territory voted to create their first marriage laws. Their Government is a minority Parliament with the Labor Party with the support of the Greens Party.

With a majority of one vote in the tiny Parliament, the new marriage law defines marriages as being between two adults who agree to be married. There are no definitions covering race, gender, sexuality, etc. Just that it must be two adults who go willingly into the agreement of marriage.

Today is an excellent day.
