Facebook users banned ‘because they like classic English dish faggots’

At least two Facebook users have had their accounts temporarily suspended after they wrote about the classic English food dish faggots.

Robert Wilkes, 54, was unable to use his profile for 12 hours after he confessed he ‘liked faggots’, while 68-year-old Eileen Perrins was also left wondering why she couldn’t access Facebook after she posted a picture of the food made from offal and off-cuts of meat.

‘It may have a different meaning in America but I used it in a food context,’ Mr Wilkes told The Sun.

Faggot is often used as a slur against homosexuals and Facebook admitted its attempts to stamp out the word may have led to ‘confusion’.

One of the makers of the popular dish, also known as ‘savoury ducks’, said it hoped faggot fans wouldn’t face any further problems on the social network.
