Farewell Margaret Thatcher

Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher, LG, OM, PC, FRS

(née Roberts, 13 October 1925 – 8 April 2013) Former Prime Minister UK

On the 8th of April, 2013, former Prime Minister of the UK who is also their first and to date, only female Prime Minister died from a stroke. As an uncompromising Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher built up a long list of haters and admirers. When you become a Leader of a nation is a bad situation, you either make the hard decisions and be hated or take the easy road for populism and ride it out despite the dramas that follow.

Some of the things her Government did I agree, other I strongly disagree. There were serious matters that needed to be addressed including some unions who saw themselves as being above and beyond the law. There were serious economic issues that dogged the UK after World War II. As usual, it’s the people at the end who are disempowered who are the first to to face the brunt of cut backs.

There are people very happy with Mrs Thatcher’s death. As much as I understand their anger at her, I do disagree with cheering her death on. I do believe in paying respect to the dead. Even if she did hit a journalist across the head with a handbag which contained a brick.

So love her or despise her, Margaret Thatcher is passed. There are some awful policies going on in Governments around the World right now including the UK. I think that people would be best to put their emotions into stopping what is going on now. Cheering in the streets for people dying when they weren’t exactly being exterminated isn’t exactly a good look to me.

RIP Margaret Thatcher. Soon you’ll be pushing up the daisies.
